From a holly tree outside her first apartment → to the box she was given at her bridal shower.

How a memory gets made.

Most people have never commissioned a piece before. Here is the whole of it, in four steps.

01

Tell me about the piece

Send photos and the story. What it was, who it belonged to, why you can’t part with it.

02

We decide what it becomes

Together we choose the object and the details. I give you an honest quote before anything is cut.

03

I build it

I mill, shape, and finish by hand, keeping the grain and character of the original wood.

04

It comes home

You get back something you’ll use, carrying the wood, and the memory, forward.

The wood remembers.

A tree, a campsite, a dresser, and what each became. Rest on a piece to see where it began.

Katie’s bridal shower gift

A storm brought down the holly tree outside Katie’s first apartment. Her mother Jan arranged for me to have some of the wood, and it became the box Katie was given at her bridal shower. She knew straight away where it came from.

Beth’s tea box

My wife’s grandmother left her a dresser we had no room for and she could not part with. Its cherry drawers became the dividers in this tea box, in English walnut. It gets opened every day.

Made to be used.

Boxes, boards, trays, and larger transformations. Open each drawer, every piece is one of a kind.

There is no price list, because there is no stock. Every piece is quoted individually, based on size, the condition of the wood, and the detail you want, inlays, colored epoxy, engraving. Send the story and I’ll send an honest quote.

How quoting works
In their words
“ You transformed a tree log into something meaningful and lasting. It carries a story, and your artistic talent brought that story to life. ”
Jan, whose daughter was given the holly box at her bridal shower
Have a piece in the garage you can’t let go of?

Let’s turn it into something you’ll use.

Send a few photos and the story behind it. I’ll tell you what it could become, and what it costs.
